Cohen and Company, CPAs is a 50-person, full-service CPA firm based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area providing Tax Compliance & Consulting, Audit & Assurance, Business Advisory Services, and Business Technology Services. We are currently seeking to hire an experienced accounting firm business developer, and the successful candidate will meet all of the following essential qualifications.
Essential Qualifications:
• Prior Accounting Firm BD Experience: Must have worked in the industry and sold accounting services previously.
• Knows the Industry Dynamics and Firm Messaging: Do research, understand firm’s service offerings, strengths, and overall industry dynamics.
• Manages Time Strategically: Engaging with professional associations, attending events, setting meetings, researching and evaluating where time spent will be most productive.
• Conducts Organized, Consistent Follow Up: Know when to follow up, what the touch points will be, and what actions you will take to deeper the relationship.
• Is Curious and Consultative: Understands the client’s or prospect’s business, asks the right questions, listens actively, and gains an overall understanding of the client’s goals and pain areas to match the client’s needs to the firm’s services.
• Achieves Personal Connections: Is able to connect on a personal level to be valued as a trusted partner, and is capable of being the articulate, professional, public “face” of the firm.
• Resourceful and Fearless: Is willing to initiate and have conversations with anyone who may be a potential client or referral source.
• Creates Connections and Makes Introductions: Reviews contacts to consider who might benefit from an introduction. Is responsible for getting the firm’s partners and managers in front of the right contacts.
• Contributes to Firm Wide Momentum and Excitement: Helps to facilitate a business development culture in the firm by creating excitement and stimulating interest and involvement in developing relationships and new business.
