We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager in the Washington, DC office at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team of lawyers, paralegals, and staff.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for business development and marketing initiatives for the Tax Business Group. The primary areas of responsibility include business development management, marketing and business development planning and management, coordination with Client and Practice Development (“CPD”) team members, and coordination with other departments. The Business Development Manager is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. The position works directly with the Senior Tax Practice Group Manager, and requires collaboration with the CPD team and Chief Business Development Officer to achieve best results and a unified approach.

Responsibilities and Duties:
•Managing targeting and business development efforts for the Tax Business Group.
•Ensuring that strong client relationships are leveraged across the firm.
•Managing and facilitating plans for assigned subgroups and teams.
•Ensuring that market trends, industry developments, movements and other relevant news are identified, communicated and analyzed for the Tax Business Group.
•Researching and distributing client and target profiles to Partners.
•Providing research and resources to help the Partners understand their clients' and targets’ businesses.
•Collaborating with attorneys to draft, finalize, and produce marketing proposals and responses to RFPs from clients and potential clients.
•Coordinating with attorneys to prepare client presentations.
•Participating in strategic planning sessions with subgroup and team leadership to determine where opportunities exist for growth and expansion.
•Driving planning initiatives, strategy development and implementation through action item tracking and follow up.
•Meeting with Partners regularly to manage current client and prospective client initiatives.
•Developing and adhering to annual budget aligned with strategic goals and objectives.
•Tracking and creating reports on legal competitors.
•Working collaboratively with CPD staff on key projects.
•Providing direction and oversight as necessary to CPD team members to ensure coordination and completion of projects.
•Ensuring appropriate coordination of all initiatives as they apply to other Firm departments.
•Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing or business administration.
•At least 5 years of business development and/or marketing experience in a professional services firm or related environment. Law firm experience highly preferred, with knowledge or background in one or more of the following practice areas: Corporate, Energy and Environmental, Litigation and Tax.
•Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
•Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and must be familiar with research and CRM databases.
