Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Business Development, the Business Development Manager is responsible for managing the marketing and
business development activities for assigned practice areas within the firm. The primary objective of the position is to assist the firm in deriving incremental revenue from new and existing clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and executes marketing and business development plans to support assigned practice area strategic plans.
2. Supports assigned practice area lawyers for individual and team business development efforts, including proposal development, RFP responses, capabilities presentations and general networking.
3. Monitors, analyzes and communicates market, industry and competitive trends for assigned practice areas.
4. Supports cross-selling efforts, including assessment of the assigned practice areas’ penetration of the firm’s key accounts to identify and help monetize
business development opportunities.
5. Develops a deep understanding of assigned practice areas, including services, expertise, clients and competitors.
6. Builds strong business relationships with lawyers and key staff within assigned practice areas, as well as with colleagues on the marketing and business
development team.
7. Attends practice area meetings and conference calls as appropriate to provide marketing input and support.
8. Serves as the main point of contact with assigned practice areas to help them get what they need from specialists within the marketing support staff.
9. Coaches attorneys regarding business development efforts and in the creation and delivery of winning pitches and proposals.
10. Builds and maintains a calendar of internal and external events for assigned practice areas.
11. Supports the identification and planning for speaking engagements, events, conferences and seminars for assigned practice areas.
12. Supports the marketing team by managing budgets, updating practice descriptions and website information, providing status reports and special project
work as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. A Baccalaureate degree with course work in relevant subjects such as marketing, communications or business management; MBA preferred.
2. Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in marketing sales or business development in a professional services environment.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional written and oral communications skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
4. Ability to travel to all offices as required.
