The Marketing and Technical Communications Senior Associate Role
In this role, you will help drive a diverse array of thought leadership, lead generation, conference, and other initiatives. You will interface with practice leaders within the firm, as well as external vendors to deliver on a robust platform of growth programs. Specific responsibilities will include:
• Serve as support editor by authoring non-technical communications and participating in the drafting and refining of longer, more technical pieces. Bring your editorial skills to bear by ensuring that our materials are flawlessly written, reflect our voice, and serve our audience well. Work with outside writers and editors as needed to keep things moving.
• Maintain and enhance our web presence by drafting and posting updates to our website and LinkedIn Company feed, and working with our external web team to oversee technical improvements and microsite implementations.
• Own the master calendar of initiatives and goals by tracking deliverables, checking status, reminding others of deadlines, and helping push initiatives over the finish line. Keeps an entire array of initiatives moving via strong parallel processing skills.
• Coordinate quarterly newsletters, webinars and external submissions. Work with practice leaders and consultants who are producing thought leadership pieces to nudge progress by assisting with outlining, writing, and editing. Engage outside editors as appropriate. Publish our thought leadership online and via email using our software programs.
• Develop themes, strategies, and taglines by liaising with practice leaders as marketing priorities are set and crafting appropriate messaging. Ensure that messaging is relevant by staying abreast of marketing developments and positioning in our industry. Enforce brand standards.
• Drive lead generation and nurturing campaigns with the data team by shepherding list segmentation and architecting efforts to re-touch contacts in a thoughtful way. Track lead nurturing efforts, leverage marketing automation, and participate in overall database improvement efforts.
• Steer production of conference materials and other collateral. Work with practice leaders to develop and refine messaging. Collaborate with external editors and the creative team to bring the messaging to life in conference booths, brochures, and related materials.
• Track performance and recommend course corrections as appropriate.

About the Successful Candidate
You love b2b marketing because it’s intensely analytical in its quest to match services to buying needs. You appreciate the difference that excellent writing makes in communicating a value proposition. You would rather sign up for less structure and “figure things out” than the brain damage of endless bureaucracy. You’re comfortable without rampant process, but you appreciate the importance of process and look to create it as you pilot things that work.

You have an appetite to do things the right way and impart a stamp of excellence. You don’t believe that quality and speed are necessary tradeoffs: you are resourceful and a quick study determined to become more efficient as you learn and test new things. You’re practical and focus on results and impact, which means you’re guided to do more of what works and less of what doesn’t.

And, you love the thrill of working with bright, yet collaborative, people. You embrace individual accountability, but enjoy being surrounded by people who stretch and challenge you. You are excited to demonstrate good judgment and build on your successes to expand your role.

Like any other company, ours is not the right fit for everyone. Joining a thin team spells considerable opportunity and room to make an impact, and the following items may be of interest:

• We move fast to deliver results on tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. A proactive, ownership-based, and efficient workstyle is needed to stay ahead of the game. An eye toward doing things the right way without sacrificing deadlines is also critical. This is not a slow-paced, 40-hour-per-week position.

• The radar is busy and requires constant attention. New issues pop up all the time. Therefore, it will be essential to maintain strong radar of everything that is open and to make sure you’re driving (or facilitating) progress on multiple initiatives at the same time.

• Progress favors the empathetic, graceful facilitator. Your success will depend on collaboration from practice leaders who are busy, fragmented, and dealing with an entirely different set of priorities. Graceful and forthright communication with an eye toward making their lives easier is the best way to get what you need and win friends in the process.

• Data-driven decision-making requires good tracking. We are analytical and like to use data to inform decision-making. We move slowly when there are benefits to slowing down and quickly when the path is clear. This style is far preferred by someone with an analytical orientation.

• Small team = big responsibility. Good judgment is required, and the quality of your decisions should continue to increase as you assimilate new experiences into your toolkit.

• All employees work from our headquarters in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona. Scottsdale is part of the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area and boasts a high quality of life—despite the HOT summers.

Benefits and the like
As a high performance environment, we expect a lot, but we believe in rewarding excellence.
