General Description
This role is positioned to work directly with attorneys on business development efforts and is responsible for providing direct support to attorneys and acting as a single point of contact for business development teams and practice groups. Candidate will be responsible for implementing business development initiatives in conjunction with the Director of Practice Development and Department Chair(s). PDM will possess a solid understanding of marketing and business development programs in a law firm environment, excellent oral and written skills, team player, sound judgment and discretion, and will be self-motivated and results-oriented.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day responsibilities to ensure that practice area assignments and projects are effectively managed and in alignment with the firm’s overall business development strategies.
• Identify and support brand-building and client acquisition opportunities; conceive and supervise external events, webinars, blogs, etc. for assigned practice areas.
• Coordinate monthly meeting agendas for designated department/practice group meetings. Coordinate logistics and participate in monthly meetings and actively manage follow up tasks and projects.
• Act as lead resource to the Department Chairs/Practice Group Leaders regarding business development activities as well as operational and management projects assigned by the Leader(s).
• Direct contact with attorneys to build representative deal/case/matter lists. Ensuring that all necessary marketing materials exist and are maintained. Provide targeted experience lists for Proposal team as requested.
• Assist the Director of Practice Development in the preparation and review of annual Individual Attorney Business Development plans, assist individual attorneys attain their goals and coordinate efforts for greater firm-wide business development goals.
• Develop methodologies to identify and evaluate marketing/business development expenditures. Assess/recommend priorities for BD budget, track budgets throughout the year and make recommendations to optimize available resources.
• Coordinate and draft submissions of annual and unique firm Profiles, Directory Listings, Business Lists and Rankings, and Awards. Identification and tracking of other like-opportunities.
• Develop content for RFPs and pitch/presentation opportunities via the development of written proposal and presentation materials, and liaise with client teams including participating in practice group meetings to ensure presentation of content is consistent with the Miller & Martin brand.
• Engage in research and analysis of industry/trade associations, and competitive intelligence gathering for strategic planning, competitive firm positioning, and business development activities for assigned practice area and identify speaking opportunities.
• Orient laterals, including working with them to create biographies, announcements and to develop and implement BD plans that take the global platform, synergies and cross-selling opportunities into consideration.
• Monitor and analyze competitive activity, client and company, sector and geographic trends, assess implications and make marketing recommendations based on the research.
• Work with the Director of Practice Development in overall Business Development/Marketing Plan for Miller & Martin.
• Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by Director of Practice Development.

Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a marketing-related field and 5-7 years of experience in marketing and business development of professional services desired. Experience in legal business development is preferred. Computer skills in Microsoft Office and client relations analytics and excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
